Odeon - Lobby(#4049RJ)

The Odeon's lobby is testament to a faded and perverted glory. The deep crimson carpet is thick in places but in others stubbly as velveteen, and the rich pattern of tangling flowers is everywhere marred by dark stains. The walls are clothed in kingly purple tatters of wallpaper, and covered with faded posters featuring women and men in various states of undress, posing with various degrees of tastelessness, and screaming out titles like "Male Service", "Bang Bang: a Sexual Explosion", and "A Slip of Her Tongue" in garish lettering. There's no light in the room but what comes in from the street, and during the day the actresses look grey and ghoulish, and the bright reds and purples of the room faded and dusky; and at night, the place might as well be covered in thick black paint.

Kathryn-Laura(#3278PXc)

At a little over five foot tall and with a slim build, KL is hardly awe-inspiring on first sight. She appears to be around seventeen years old and still carries a teenager's air of disenchantment and irritation.
Her mid-length mousy-brown hair is brushed back out of her eyes and behind her ears. It's not exactly styled, as it appears to have been hacked at without any hint of hairdressing expertise, but it's at least had contact with a brush at some point recently. She would be quite attractive - in particular she has a very cute, upturned, nose - were it not for the sullen and aggressive set of her mouth and the hostility of her gaze. Her hazelnut eyes look out with disappointment and poorly hidden anger, as if the world were a holiday villa that didn't match the travel agent's description. Her skin is oddly pale, and on her right shoulder-blade a two-inch-square tattoo of a winged horse visible. Physically, she's well proportioned, and her bare arms show a tight musculature that speaks of regular exercise.
She's got a habit of slouching and of leaning up against any available support. When she forgets to slouch, however, she moves with a surprising degree of grace and compact poise.
She is wearing a faded and beaten up pair of blue jeans that are just a little too large for her, and have holes in the knees, a pair of worn combat boots and a faded red tank top with "And your little doggy too!" emblazoned across the front. The tank top has a badly-repaired tear across the chest, causing the word "little" to be have its second "t" deformed. Similarly, the jeans have a set of unrepaired holes on her left thigh, pale skin showing behind the rents.

Joey

A dark haired teenager with the beginnings of maturity in her eyes. She stands at a modest 5'2" and is of average build; neither skinny as a twig, nor plump in any fashion. A line of fading freckles saddles over her nose, blending in with the darker hue of her skintone. Her hair has a natural wave to it and hangs down past her shoulders, and her eyes are a rather plain brown.
She often has a bounce to her step and a smile on her face. Her eyes are warm and filled with a look of contentment and happiness, though also quite alert of her surroundings.

Spring sure had everyone fooled it seems. The weather is back to below freezing and Joey is inside the Odeon. She has a big dirty blanket wrapped about her and is pressed to the corner of the room with the dogs huddled around her. Chatter chatter. Poor teeth.

The door to the street swings open, and KL slides inside, looking around as she does so. "Hello?" she calls softly. "Olga?" For once, she doesn't let the door slam behind her, but instead closes it carefully and noiselessly, before moving further into the theatre, eyes blinking as she adjusts to the gloom.

Joey looks up and over to the door, spying who has entered her domain. The dogs all jump to attention and start barking, and thus get a quick, 'Shh! Eh! Eh!' The Ragabash stands up and makes her way to the front, "No Olga here, wassup?"

KL continues to blink, as she attempts to make out the figure coming towards her. "Joey?" she asks, as she recognises the younger Bone-Gnawer. "Nothing much. I was in the area and I thought I might try and see Squeaks, or something. My pants could do with a new tear in them." She takes another step towards the turnstile. "Can I come in?"

Joey grins at that, "You are already in, but sure. Squeaks is napping right now, but if ya wanna share the blanket, I certainly won't object. I mean, my blanket." She nods to the back corner, "Oh heeeey, maybe you could help me with something?"

"Sure. I guess. Unless it's going to get me into more trouble." KL pauses. "In which case, definitely." She puts a hand on the turnstile and levers herself over it carefully. Having safely managed this, she wipes her hand on the leg of her jeans and straightens up. "So, what's up?"

Joey pulls out a wad of paperwork from inside her shirt and then fumbles for a pen. "Can you sign this stuff for me? It just needs a signature that doesn't look like mine." She hands it over, "You don't gotta read it or nothing."

If she does read it though, it's schooling paperwork, registration forms and junk.

Taking the papers in one hand, KL casts a quick glance over them. "Mind if I don't use my real name?" she asks. "I'll sign them OK, but I don't want my name on anything official." She puts the papers down on the turnstile and takes the pen, ready to sign it.

Joey nods, "Sure, just as long as it's a name. Hell use Copland as the last name to make it look even better." She smiles at this and tucks herself under the blankets as Badger, one of the six month old dogs curls up on her and begins gnawing at her wrist.

KL flips through the papers one after another, signing them in a barely-legible scrawl as "Janet Copland". Having done all of them she hands them back. "That do you?" she asks. "So...going back to school?"

Joey looks around as the s-word is mentioned. She gives a nod, "I ran into a cop the other day, he is gonna help me pull it off. It's a good opportunity, and I am not so scary as to not be able to pull it off. Just," she sighs, "Olga can't know about it."

KL leans against the wall next to where Joey is sitting and slides down, bending her knees so that she is sitting with her back to it. "Why not?" KL asks. "I mean, I hated school, and I was glad to get out of it. But if you want to go...why would she stop you?"

Joey shrugs her shoulders, "Says I won't fit in, and that it won't turn out alright. And I got to look after the dogs and all too. But, I could be so way better if I was smarter."

"I see." KL says, holding up a hand and studying her fingernails, which, to be frank, are a bit of a mess. "I mean, I'd just do what the fuck I wanted to and wait until someone made me stop. But you might have some trouble fitting in. I mean, most garou tend to scare the normals."

Joey cants her head to the side, "Cmon, me? I don't scare ants even. Squirrels use me as a playground in the park." She chuckles and takes the papers, "Thanks though. I gotta go get like, shots and stuff before I can go to school. That's gonna be weird."

KL laughs. "What, to prevent you from getting diseases? Redundant much." She smiles. "So...first time we met, neither of us knew who the hell the other was. Last time, we were doing the wolf thing. So...who are yer, Joey?"

Joey rubs at her face and chuckles, "Well, yah I know I won't get diseases, but the rest of the world don't." She lets out a sigh and pulls the dog up onto her lap to finally get her wrist back. "Joey. Jus' Joey. Copland is the name the hospital gave me I guess. Gnawer, obviously, Cliath, with much surprise, and Ragabash, as if the playful nature didn't give it away. Certified wuss and screw up extraordinare. Pleased to meet you."

The somewhat downbeat assessment draws a shake of the head from KL. "Certified wuss? I doubt that. Why do you think you are? And how long have you been on the street?" The Black Fury slides away slightly, so she can half-turn and study the Gnawer more closely, her eyes bright with interest and a little concern.

Joey grins a helpless smile that doesn't weigh too heavily on her mood. "Failed my first Rite before even getting to it. Fox Frenzied, nearly bolted outta here Crinos style. Managed my second Rite by some miracle of Gaia. I'm the omega's omega, the low man on the totem pole. I don't do much right, and I've got muscles the size of kidney beans." She sniffs a bit then, rolling Badger to his side so he can get tummy rubs. The dog groans in contentment and wiggles his tail. "Been on the streets for the last four years, ever since running away from the foster system."

KL sniggers at this then has a quick look around the foyer, checking that no-one can hear her. "Last time I was here, I fox-frenzied so badly that I didn't stop running until I reached California. I wouldn't feel too bad about it." She pauses and cocks her head on one side. "Does it bother you, that you aren't very strong in homid?"

"I'm not very strong in any form. And yah. It does. It's not fun being at the bottom of the bottom." Joey shrugs at this, but cants her head, "You ran to California?"

KL nods. "Yep. Well, I sort of stopped frenzying after the first hundred miles or so. But the thing that had caused it was still here, so I kept going for a bit." She screws her eyes up in thought. "Physical strength is really only a matter of time and effort. Anyone without an illness can have it. I mean - if you wanted to work out, I could put you through your paces."

Joey chuckles a little, "I could never get strong enough or good enough to end up on top, so it's kinda silly to waste my time. Still, just once I'd like White Bear to not get me belly up." She sighs, picking a flea off the dog and sending it flying.

"White Bear?" KL asks. "Who's that?" She looks concerned. "He beats you up?" Fingers of one hand curl into a fist and she bites her bottom lip.

Joey shrugs, "He's one of the Guardians, doesn't like me. Doesn't like Gnawers. Says I stink, and tells me that if I stink up the bawn he'll chase me out because I'd be scarying prey away. Just last week, he got all pissed off that I managed to sneak up on him, and when I went tearing through barking and howling, he hit me. In Crinos! Then pinned me down till I bellied up to him."

KL nods slowly. "I see. I think I'll have to meet this 'White Bear'. We could have quite an interesting conversation." There's an undeniable hint of threat about this, her voice low and tense. "I've lived on the street...and I don't like Gnawers being mistreated. Picking on newly rited Ragabashes..." she hisses lightly.

Joey smiles at this, a bit of mischief in her eyes. "Well that's cool, I mean, but I don't want you getting into trouble over this. He says I was distracting him as Guardian. But hey, if he can't hear a silly Ragabash creeping up, then maybe he isn't fit enough right now to /be/ on watch." She sniffs a bit, "You seem real nice though, and I'm glad you don't mind Gnawers. I was a lost cub, so I chose them over the others because I felt they were the only ones that'd like, actually let me be who I was. And still look after me."

"Oh. I'm not nice. I'm a class A bitch most of the time. But I don't pick on people smaller than me." KL says, with a grin. "I had a sparring session with Brom, of the Get. He's a foot-and-a-half taller than me." This comes with some pride.

Joey smiles, "You played nice with me as a wolf. But then, I don't go trying to be top dog either. It's easy to get along with the one that doesn't question her place." She stretches out and scritches the dog who suddenly turns and snaps at her fingers. "Hey!" Her own hand makes a biting like gesture at his ear, "Chill out."

KL studies the dogs for a moment. "When I was here before, Rene had some dogs, in the old church. These look too young to be them." She pauses. "Yeah, but that was just play in the woods. You didn't really challenge me. And Ar... Luna was very thin at that time."

Joey nods her head, "So what're you then? I mean, your full intro? And no, these are Raul's pups. Isla is the oldest, all kin. This one here is my bud, Badger."

"Hey Badger." KL says, smiling at the dog. "Oh...yeah... I'm Kathryn-Laura Cole, sometimes called Escapes-From-Money, Cliath Ahroun of the Black Furies." Her chest puffs out with some pride as she says this. "Originally from Denver, Colorado. Now trying to be from here."

Joey lets her eyes go wide, "Aw shit, Ahroun?" She suddenly shifts her mood completely, acting all prim and proper and overly cautious. "Shoulda told me that, geez." Badger gives her a firm sniffing and then just like the ragabash /he/ is, gives her fingers a quick nip.

"Yeah. Sorry." KL grins. "Don't worry. Luna's still quite thin. I'm only _mildly_ hell to be around at the moment." She leans back against the wall. "'sides. I took out most of my fury on an archery target earlier."

Joey ohs at this, then frowns, as if she were capable of the full range of emotion in a blip of a second. "Olga says it'd be stupid for me to learn the bow, because I can't go lugging a bow around in the city. Don't suppose you could teach me to shoot guns?"

"Nope. Can't use one." KL says. "My father was big on gun control, and refused to have one in the house. They're over-rated anyway. Make you too complacent." She bites her lip again. "Look...you shouldn't let Olga limit what you can learn. So a bow isn't that useful in a city...but not everything has to be. Archery teaches you poise, patience, control over your mind." Which possibly explains why KL is so rubbish at it. "Those are things that are worth learning, even if you never shoot an arrow in anger."

Joey lifts a shoulder at that and gives a shrug, "Well you'll still show me then? Those sound like good things for me to learn."

"Of course I will. And...hmm..." KL pauses. "Look, as far as I'm concerned, you're welcome out at the Fury house any time. Though I don't know what Helen would say, and it's sort of her house at the moment." She shrugs. "But I think we can shoot things in the back yard as much as we like."

Joey grins at this, "Awesomeness. That rocks. No, you rock!" She holds her hand out as if shaking on the deal, "Thanks KL." The dog finally gets up and wanders off, bored with the lack of attention he is getting from the two.

KL takes the hand and shakes it. "And if there's anything more...I don't know...more practical that I can do for you, tell me. It doesn't always have to be hard." She looks around. "And...if you wanted to smoke those things you were smoking before, I wouldn't tell."

Joey laughs and shakes her head, "Uh no no, I am done with that. That was a bad idea at a dumb chance for at least mental escape. Which is no good. So, yah. Back to being miss goody Gnawer. The arrow lessons should do fine."

"Don't work too hard on your halo." KL says, with a grin. "And I'm not convinced that I'm really teaching you archery. More learning with you. I think teachers are supposed to be able to hit the target more than fifty percent of the time." She pauses and thinks. "Can I ask you a question? Do you know Kevin?"

Joey nods her head, twice. "Yah, he was the lost cub, he chose up the Glass Walkers though. Damn shame, he'll probably start snubbing his nose at me too now, and he was pretty nice actually." She pauses, "Why?"

"Well, he got taken away from the farmhouse...and I don't know where he is. Have you got any clue?" KL asks. "I'm sure he's safe, I'd just like to pay him a visit sometime." She finishes with a shake of her head. "I mean, I've not had enough whining recently."

Joey chuckles a little, "I could show you where the safehouse is. It's for all Garou when they are in the city, but it's Walker owned and operated. So, ya know, Gnawers don't go there much."

"Cool. I mean, I don't know the city that well." KL shrugs. "Still kind of new around here in some ways. Like not having spoken to Megan." The Black Fury looks worried at this and folds her arms across her chest. "I'm really not looking forward to that."

Joey grins a little, "I'd pee my pants if I had to do that all on my own, it's ok. Ya wanna go see the place now?"

"I hope I don't do that. That would be really embarrassing, and I might end up frenzying all over the Sept Alpha. I think that's considered bad form." KL says puckishly. "Yeah, unless you need to stay here for some reason."

Joey shakes her head, "Nah not me. C'mon lets go, it still freezing out there huh?" She reaches over to take another coat off the hook and layers it over her existing jacket.

"It's a bit chilly." KL admits, standing up. "Not too bad, though." She gestures to her bare arms. "I didn't get frostbite or anything."

"Yah but you're all tough and butch." She grins and heads towards the front door way, putting her finger to her lips as one of the dogs lets out a whuff. "Hush up." Out she goes and slips into the street, commenting once the other catches up to her, "I'll show ya where, but I ain't going up to the door."

"Fair enough." KL comments, following the Gnawer out of the cinema and onto the street. "And I'm not that butch - it's just that I don't have a dedicated coat. Is it far?"

Joey pushes her hands into her pockets, shaking her head, "Nah I don't think so. But it's up towards the nicer side of town of course. They just built it up, all new and shiny."

"Walkers!" KL says with a shake of her head. "So well meaning...so little understanding. How can they protect the wyld from inside their SUV's? I can't believe Kev ended up picking between them and the Get. It's like...pick two tribes, any two tribes."

Joey giggles a little, "I thought at first he had some Gnawer interest, oh well. He was too prim and proper for us anyway I guess. Still, like I said, hope he doesn't get all snobby on me."

KL nods. "Yeah. Well, I'd have been happier if he'd ended up with you lot. Given that he doesn't have the qualifications to join us." She grins wickedly. "Though I did offer to show him a rite that would have let him become a Black Fury."

Joey wrinkles her nose and goes wide eyed, "That is uh... whoa. Don't tell me. I don't wanna know." She laughs aloud then and continues walking towards the safehouse.

"OK." KL laughs. "Let's just say it involved a big silver knife." As they reach the safehouse, she turns to the Bonegnawer. "Thanks for this. Gives me somewhere else to go where I won't get into too much trouble. I guess I'll see you around - perhaps out at the greek house soon?"

Joey nods her head, "Yah Kl, that'd be cool. I'll catch up with you soon. Tell Kevin I said hi." She bundles her hands back into her pockets then and turns around to head back home.
