Safehouse: Common Area

The foyer of this house is set off from the living room with its octagonal bump-out by a four foot high halfwall. Stairs lead up from the foyer, turning and disappearing to the right, and a steel door with a keycard lock claims the wall opposite the living room. The rest of the main floor is taken up by a small bathroom across the hallway from a dining room which is separated from the kitchen at the back of the house by another half-wall. The decor is decidedly sparse - white walls, beige carpeting in the living and dining rooms and down the hall, unremarkable vinyl in the foyer and kitchen.
A used couch and a pair of recliners are grouped around a coffee table in the living room, with a foursome of wooden chairs claiming the bump out for quieter conversation. The dining room boasts a white laminate table with four aluminum and vinyl-upholstered chairs - too new to be 'vintage', too old to be trendy. The appliances and cupboards in the kitchen are new - or at least refurbished to look like it - and a door leads out to the backyard from there.
Up the stairs are a number of empty rooms where anyone affiliated with the Sept can crash and an office for private meetings. The Glass Walkers have their own area accessible via a locked door off the foyer. The main doors themselves lead back out to the front porch of the house.

There is a knock on the door; three firm raps that may now be familiar as belonging to Emma's small but fierce fist. She stands on the other side, a Seattle Mariners baseball cap pulled down tight on her head. She is mostly healed now, though her skin still has the wrinkles of someone burnt in something severe. The hat, of course, hides, or tries to, the fact she has a completely hairless mug for now. Beside her is KL, looking very much as KL often does.

It should be no surprise that it's Kevin who comes to the door -- it's always Kevin who comes to the door. Perhaps the Glass Walkers have been training him as a butler along with other more usual Garou duties. Opening the door, he favours KL with a thin smile and Emma with a neutral blink. "Coming in?"

KL looks even more irritable than ever, her face set in a scowl that doesn't lift even when Kevin opens the door. "Sure. How're you doing?" she mutters as she walks past the door-holding cub. "Recovered from last time?"

Emma eyes KL, "Last time? What you do to him last time?" She steps inside and the ball cap remains exactly where it sits- no manners about hats on inside the house here. The door is shut behind her and she takes a brief look around. "Everyone off hiding?" Her mood is pretty calm, despite her beat up appearance, and it would appear that while the Get is quick to anger, she is equally quick to forget.

"Oh, I'm just dandy," Kevin says, with a faint emphasis on the personal pronoun as he looks over Emma and takes in her current appearance. "Don't ask me where everyone is," he responds to the baseball-capped Get. "I don't keep them in my trousers pocket. Unlike me, they're allowed to leave the house and go wandering the city. The world even, for all I know." His words are overtly jocular, but an undertone of bitterness can be detected.

"They can even go on the bawn." The Black Fury matches Kevin's bitterness with her own. "Oh, Kevin and I had a bit of a spar. Nothing serious, nothing that could be called *teaching* or anything. After all, he's Glasswalker territory." The slightest of unpleasant grins accompanies the end of this sentence. "Is the coffee pot still working?" she asks, looking at Kevin with a suggestive raise of an eyebrow.

Emma looks to KL with a winning grin. "Yah, there is that. But ya know." She slides a thickly mischievous smile towards the Glass Walker cub now, "I have a small ace up my sleeve. *I* apparently have permission to teach him now." Her arms fold over her chest in a moment of pride and authority, as if she were trying to scare the cub for just a moment.

"Jump leads for two? Can do," Kevin quotes with a smile. "Or three, Emma? As I remember it, KL, we were both itchy as hell under a nice fat moon and mutually decided to burn some tension off with fists in Glabro. I got the best night's sleep I'd had in days afterwards, so it worked." He heads through to the kitchen area to start off the coffee machine. "If either of you two is going near a shop, we're desperately low on coffee filters," he calls. To Emma's ace-in-the-hole he makes no overt response.

"Really?" KL asks Emma, her eyes wide in surprise. "Wow. Shall I get the thumbscrews and you can get started?" She grins, while still scowling - an unusual combination, and turns toward the seats. "I'll pick some up for you," she calls to the Glasswalker. "I've been putting enough of the stuff away."

Emma chuckles, and then narrows her gaze at the cub. "What the hell does that mean anyway? Jump leads for two, or three? You foreigners are weird. Make no sense half the time." She flops down onto a seat, a hand coming up to scratch under the bill of her hat. "So Kevin, do you know what Natalie has in mind for this teaching bit?" She winks at KL as well, "You brought them right?"

Kevin stalks back through and gives Emma a dark chuckle. "Jump leads is just slang for coffee. They're what you use to start your car when your battery's flat. No, I've not got a clue what Nat wants you to teach me -- but knowing you as I do, fighting's probably on the agenda. Especially as you've brought KL along."

KL waves a hand. "I think I'm just along for the ride, unless Emma has plans she hasn't told me about." She drops into a chair with her customary thump. "I met White Bear, by the way," she says, looking over at the Get. The tone of her voice implies that this was probably not a good experience.

Emma gives Kevin a nod, then glances back to the Fury, "Oh? Tell us, tell us. Tell us exactly, word for word, detail for detail." She grins at the cub, as if silently saying 'this will be good'.

Kevin turns to KL too, expectantly. "Ooh. This is the guy who used to be one of us but decided he preferred the wide open spaces between his ears?"

Emma turns to Kevin to interupt KL before she starts. "First of all, how many sides of the story have you heard on it Kevin? Not that I have much respect for the guy myself, but he is still Cliath, and a Guardian. And you of all people have little room to complain on being something and preferring something else." She gives her attention back to KL then.

The Black Fury's face twists into an expression of fury and hate. "He told me to get off the fucking bawn and not to come back until I'd done my Chiminage, and then went to fucking Crinos and threatened me with a fucking great war spear." She pauses, cheeks reddening with the memory. "I wanted to fucking throat him, but he is a fucking guardian and everything, so I just about fucking managed to not do that." Her arms squeeze against her chest, "So now I'm not allowed into the woods at the end of my fucking garden path, and it's a two hour run to forests that I can go into." There's a catch in her voice at this, and she blinks a couple of times, eyes wet, then looks away. "So yeah, that's what happened."

Kevin compresses his lips at Emma's verbal knuckle-rap, but doesn't respond otherwise until KL finishes her story. "Charming fellow he sounds," drawls the British cub. "If I get to go bawnside and meet him, and if he doesn't chase me away as he has KL, I'll be quite happy to listen to any tales he has to tell me. And not to let the fact that unlike me, he had a perfectly good kinfetch, and chose to chuck it away, influence me overly."

Emma sneers a little at the story, her lips pinching together. "You talk to anyone about chiminage yet? No offense KL, but you wanna get things done you're gonna have to start taking some damn steps to do it." She looks back to Kevin then, eyes narrowed for a moment. "Josh was fine being a Glass Walker until circumstances kicked him out of the Safehouse. It got worse from there. I should know. I rited with him. And I rited with him as a Glass Walker that wasn't even allowed to step on Walker territory here in the city. And for that matter, if he is such a waste of breath, then tell me why Grey nearly pounded me into the walls for talking shit about him?" She leaves it at that, and folds her arms over her chest. "Josh is lost, and no one bothers to help him find his path. Any path."

KL's nose twitches a couple of times. "Yeah. Right. As soon as I meet with Megan then, assuming she doesn't rip my guts from my stomach, I'll be sorted." She sighs loudly. "I'm not saying he's not fucking _right_, just that it's fucking annoying right now." She looks over at Kevin. "It's a Fury thing, a bit."

"Josh? That his two-leg name? Never even knew he had one," Kevin muses. "Anyway, you guys didn't come here to talk about him -- in good or bad terms. What /have/ you got planned for my education, Emma?"

Emma shrugs her shoulders at the cub even as her gaze remains on the Fury. "We'll get you sorted out KL, hey, you still want in to Havoc right? Start doing patrols with me. We'll bring Kevin too so he gets to see what it's like. You get into Havoc and then you'll be golden." Her eyes come back to the cub then. "What do you want to learn from me Kevin?"

Kevin looks thoughtful as the question is bounced straight back to him. "More fightiness'd be good. For all that Grey and Nat seem to be pretty scrappy, they've not done a lot in that line with me. Maybe another Umbraside trip before the moon gets too thin? These patrols sound interesting too."

KL nods. "I'd be willing to do patrols with you even if I didn't want in to the pack." she says. "But yeah. Do you patrol every night? All the time?" She seems keen on the concept, leaning forward, her eyes shining brightly, hands clasped together between her legs.

Emma nods her head to both. "Alright, patrols I'll clear with Natalie. You won't /do/ anything on them Kevin, you're just there to watch. And yah KL. Every day at least, we alternate who goes when to keep things interesting."
