Brownstone -- Basement Apt.(#3328RJ)

The basement of the brownstone has been split into two sections. The stairwell leads down into the northwest corner section, which contains the boiler room, furnace, and the elevator shaft. The rest has been converted into another apartment, and Signe's made it into a rather fortified one at that. The only entrance is through a re-enforced steel door with no less than three dead-bolts. There are absolutely no windows at all in any of the four concrete and brick walls. It's a rather stark but functional space. Overhead, the air ducts and plumbing pipes are exposed, while the cement floor is covered by a ragged dark wine and gold Oriental throw rug. A makeshift shelving unit of two-by-fours and cinder block has been erected along the length of the wall with the door, and it houses a stereo, tv and old vcr. Directly opposite this is a beat-up leather couch and two mismatched recliners. The kitchen is small but functional, with a round wooden table and four chairs. Half of the back end of the building has been walled off for a private bedroom, while the rest is open to the living area. This space has been converted into a home gym--complete with wrestling mats, weights, and a full weight boxing bag.

Emma is sitting at the counter in the basement apartment. She's asked both KL and Gunnar to come by today, and is looking both eager and perhaps a little tense as she waits for them.

The door lock operates, and KL enters. She looks around the room nervously, wanders over to Emma, and folds her arms over her chest. "Heya," she says, succintly. "What's up?"

Gunnar, of course, shows up on his own time - sometimes that's as punctual as death, others it's, well, not. Thankfully, this is one of the former times. Arriving some minutes after KL, the Godi pauses for just a moment upon the threshold of the room, rolling his head fractionally to one side, then the other, with a sharp cracking of vertebrae - though, for the moment, he says nothing.

Emma looks up as they both arrive. "Hey guys. Thanks for coming down on such short notice. I wanted to get us all together for this." She takes in a deep breath and, straightening her shoulders, "I want to keep Havoc together. I want us to get some new members." A slight pause, before she drops the real bombshell. "I want to claim alphaship of the pack."

As soon as Gunnar enters the room, KL's body language changes from nervousness to hostility. She turns to face the Theurge, her fingers digging in to her upper arms. "I will not pack with someone who does not respect me," she says, staring daggers at the male Get.

"Then we are finished here." The Godi returns, voice even and almost completly unemotional, as he turns on the toe of one boot and moves to the door once again.

"Hey! Knock it off." The young Ahroun bellows. "KL. Where is *your* respect for him? You want it? You give it. Period. And a pack is more than who gets along with who, we are bound together under Wolverine still." She stands up from the chair as she speaks this. "If you two need to sort something out, then sort it out and get it done with. We have work to do- and we have territory that is sorely lacking in patrols and guarding."

"I _do_ respect him." KL insists, wheeling around to face Emma. "I know that he knows more about the spirits than I'll ever do. That's why I asked him to help Kevin. I know that he's tough in a fight. But he doesn't respect me, as he's just said. I don't expect to like him, or him to like me. Too much blood in both of us. But I do expect respect."

"She has acted foolishly, and dishonorably." Gunnar responds, back still to the room though his gaze does shift, out of the very corners of his eyes, over one shoulder. The words are slightly tighter now - slightly - jawline tensed and shoulders squared to box-like. "Neither are qualities deserving of respect."

"Neither are they qualities that deserve instant damnation. You can respect her for the warrior she is, and the heart she puts into battle. If you choose to turn your respect away from every Garou in the nation that acts in foolishness, then you respect no one." Emma huffs, "Listen. We need this pack. And this pack needs both of you. Just- get the fuck over it. It happened, it's over. Move on. You both have things that need to be worked on. Hell, all of us do. That doesn't mean we should hold a high school grudge with eachother," she says pointedly to KL, "Or throw out the respect of eachother on the whole." The last offered to Gunnar. "Now, I don't have time for all this childs play - I'm claiming alpha ship. You staying in, or you want out?"

KL appears to be obviously on the way to one of those outbursts with the very long sentences, but is hauled to a stop by Emma's words. She flushes, though, and her breathing comes heavily. "I still want to be in a pack with you," she says, to Emma, eventually. "And Gunnar, despite the provocation, I should not have frenzied on you. For the failure of control, I do apologise." There's a tension running through her voice, full of all the insults she's not screaming, but the apology appears genuine enough.

A low growl, gravelly, almost sandpapery, resonates within the Godi's chest as the pale grey eyes drag their way - almost literally - to level off on KL. Nostrils pinching slightly, Gun simply watches her, albeit sidelong, for a good long few heartbeats before finally returning "I do not wish nor need your apology. I wish for you to take responsibility for your act. Even now, you place the statement 'despite the provocation.' There was no provocation; I instructed you to collect reagents I needed to perform the rite - I even told you where to go to find them. You did nothing but complain, whine, or otherwise countermand me at every step, and in every instruction. You became more of a hinderance than help - therefore, I gave the ultimatum to prove your words, or leave. You, in turn, did neither."

Emma growls again, eyes rolling upward. "Alright you two need to work this out. I don't care what it takes, but resolve it. I had my fair share of issues that needed to be worked out with Natalie when she was packed with us..." She huffs. "KL you want to keep Havoc alive, and are willing to pack under me? Gunnar. What is your decision?"

KL's temper goes, with a snap. "You fucking instructed me? You told me? You are not my fucking alpha. You are not fucking well above me in station, you miserable fucking piece of meat." She takes a couple of steps towards him, literally shaking with rage. "You treated me like a fucking lapdog to run and fucking fetch for you, and then you have the fucking nerve to stand there and say that there wasn't any fucking provocation. You hypocritical lying sack of shit!" Emma's questions are, regrettably, ignored for the moment.

The Godi whirls on one foot again, facing KL directly now. "No. But by your own words, I know the spirits - I know what is necessary to placate them, and I know what it was that afflicted the boy." The words are offered in a low, growling hiss. "What would you have done, let him linger as he was? Perhaps you forget _my_ position within this sept, that in matters such as this I am fully given license to ask what I wish, hmn? What is it that you thought would happen, that the illness would leave him simply by your asking it to? Perhaps you would have preferred to perform the ritual yourself."

Emma roars up and over to KL and reaches out to grab hold of KL, "He might not be, but as of your words five minutes ago, I am. Now fucking calm down and sort this out. Both of you are letting this mess get in the way of what I called you down here for. I believe you can fix this and get past it. But for fucks sake KL, you *asked* him for his help, you don't get to bitch about what he needs you to do. Gunnar is not out of line here. The moon was full and you took offense to his instruction." She glances to Gunnar as well, as she shrugs her hold on KL loose. "And you, for all the times you have told me to get over it and move on... perhaps you should do the same with this."

KL wheels on Emma. "I said no such fucking thing. I said that I still wanted to be in a pack with you. I hadn't even got to the fucking question of fucking alphaship. And yes, I fucking asked for him to cleanse Kevin, but that doesn't give him the fucking right to treat me like a fucking servant. And if you think that Gunnar is fucking perfect in all this then you're as fucking gone in the head as he is. And I didn't ask for his fucking help. I asked for him to do his fucking _job_." She's trembling with fury - only the svelte moon can be keeping her from a very messy frenzy.

"Let me educate you." Gunnar returns again, his voice lowering several octaves to almost a sandpapery growl. The tone is snarling, though forced patient - as if just barely teetering on the edge of a blade "A ritual such as you requested cannot be performed in the city, nor can it be performed with any components that have been tainted by either Weaver or Wyld. It is fortunate, for you and for the boy, that I was able to perform it immediately as it stood. I had no time to prepare as it was, thus I instructed you to collect what I needed. In that, I am justified as Master of the Rite - you may ask any Garou here, of any tribe, in any standing, and they will tell you the same thing. I care not who you are, or what you are, or what it is that you wish. I was, as you say, 'doing my job', and that duty required the collection of certain elements - elements which I could not acquire as I had more pressing matters to attend to, unless you thought yourself qualified in assessing the boys condition at the time. So, as such, if anyone here was 'not doing their job' it would be you."

Emma is growing more frustrated as this progresses. "This is *not* what I called you two down here for!" She groans, clenching her fists. "I want you two to sort this out, but I want to resolve *my* issue first and foremost. If you both didn't have some desire to keep Havoc going, you'd have all left already. But you're here, so let's make some decisions. KL, You are not fit to lead - look at your temper and your irrationale. If you want to challenge that fine, we can sort that out. Gunnar, you have more wisdom than I can possibly dream of having, but I do not think leading a city based warpack is your best strength, and your efforts on it would detract from your energies elsewhere."

The Black Fury calms ever so slightly, i.e. she's still raging mad, but under control. "There is a way out of this," she says, eventually. She puts her arms by her sides -somewhat stiffly- and turns to face the Theurge. "Gunnar Thorvalis. Rune-Scar. Cliath Godi of the Get of Fenris. I believe you have behaved dishonourably towards me, and I formally challenge you. I await the terms of the challenge as, by tradition, they are yours to set." Her chin is held high, and her posture proud as she throws down the gauntlet.

"You have challenged one of Fenris's own." Gunnar replies after a brief moment. "There is one term that will be given, and it will be given now. We shall meet, fang and claw, at the earliest agreeable date." That's all he says, appearantly, drawing back and up to fold both arms across his midsection.

Emma looks to each of them, lingering longer on KL this time around. "Whatever happens with the challenge. This. Is. Settled." Then she takes in another breath. "Now, before I lose my patience entirely, what are your decisions as to Havoc." One foot taps in a heated fidget.

KL takes a deep breath, then nods to Gunnar. Her face cracks into a grin as she turns back to Emma. "Oh, I'm happy to follow you. I mean, I don't rule out the possibility of challenging, but I've got lots to do at the moment."

"Mn. We shall see." The Godi remains still, however, arms folding slowly about his chest as his attention drifts away from KL to, again, settle in on Emma. His expression slips back to dry, distant almost, lips pressing together into a thin line whilst he draws back and up to full height, shoulders squaring more fully.

Emma takes in a deep breath, "Then I am moving forward and doing what needs to be done. Gunnar, I would benefit greatly from your counsel and advise, I will give you some time to consider. KL, I appreciate your loyalty and am glad to have you at my side. Now, I've got things to do - do not kill eachother in here." She turns and moves to leave the brownstone then.
