Greek House: Courtyard(#2280RJh)
A walled-in Greco-Roman courtyard exists here in the clearing behind the house. One section of the columned wall has fallen and vines clamber skywards up and around the sides of other columns. The courtyard is more or less open, in a sense, the columns created more of a border than an actual wall. There are four actual arched gateways that provide entrance into the courtyard, one at each principal direction. Near the house, on the northern side, there is a small fountain that adds the soothing sound of water to a calm, almost serene atmosphere. The pond around the fountain contains a few waterplants along and a handful of orange-gold koi fish swim lazily about. Diagonally across from that, on the western side, is a statue of the "Winged Victory of Samothrace", more popularly known as the "Headless Nike." Three archery targets, set up at the far southern end of the courtyard, seem in need of some repair and attention.
Sometime over the last couple of years, a teen girl with a poor attitude and a hair-trigger temper has grown up, and matured into a young woman. With a poor attitude and a hair-trigger temper. KL is a little over five-foot tall - no late growth spurt for her - and slimly built. She moves quickly, and is rarely still for any length of time. Her natural balance and co-ordination are clearly evident in her movement, but any hint of grace is smothered with her air of irritation, hostility and restrained aggression. She manages to turn even simple activities - like ordering fries - into not particularly subtle attempts to provoke fights.
Her mousy-brown hair hangs loose around her shoulders, the front falling to frame her face. Her hair looks like it has been cut recently, and by someone with at least a little skill. She's really quite attractive, perhaps not a pin-up, but far from ugly, with a cute upturned nose and wide expressive hazelnut eyes. However, any level of appeal her physical appearance might have is swamped by the anger in her gaze and the sullen set of her mouth. She stares at people - particularly people she doesnt know - with a cold fury, as if trying to decide exactly which way to kill them.
KL has pale skin, and on her right shoulder-blade is a two-inch-square tattoo of a winged horse. There isn't much in the way of excess flesh on her, her cheekbones are clearly visible and her bare arms have a tight musculature that speaks of regular and plentiful exercise.
She is wearing a pair of blue jeans that look brand-new, and have a designer label clearly visible on the rear, a pair of combat boots that also look new. On her upper half she is sporting a rather snazzy black leather jacket over a clean new white t-shirt.
Looking at Nike:
Looking like she just stepped from the gym, Stratonike befits her Fury tribe. Her hair is short, not styled at all and growing out from what looks to be a bleach job. Her body is toned and slim and she's always ready for battle. She isn't on that people would call attractive and her demeanor doesn't lend any more to how people would see her. When she smiles her teeth tend to show off a slightly twisted canine tooth which gives her a bit of fang look to her smile. She's tall, around 5' 10", and her form follows her function as an Ahroun. She wears a long sleeve t-shirt in a deep olive color that hangs out over a pair of loose fitting, well worn jeans with threadbare holes in the knees. A warm v-neck sweater in black covers the shirt and helps with keeping her warm. A pair of beat and battered Doc Martens make sure her feet are protected.
Morning, in the Fury House, and it's another cloudy but dry day, as much of this Washington summer seems to have been. From outside, in the courtyard, wafts the mixture of curses and yells of triumph that often accompany a KLproject. In this case, it's the repair of the archery targets. She's got some new straw butts, some new target facings, and at the moment she's attacking the stands with hammer and nails.
Nike comes from around the corner, speaking as she walks towards the other Fury. Her voice is strong and seems to have a happy tone to it. "So. How does Nike, Cedric, KL, Abraxas, and Timothy sound to you?" She says, grinning slightly. "Sounds like Havoc... Doesn't it? And get this... Meet your new pack alpha. That is... Unless you wish to challenge." She gives a slight bow of her head to the other Fury and comes up with a glint in her eye.
KL drops the hammer. Literally. It falls to the ground with a thump. Her jaw drops open in amazement. Her arms drop loosely to her sides. If there was anything else that could be dropped, it's pretty clear it would be. "You're kidding?" she says, disbelievingly. "That's so...wow...yes! No! Not challenging! Boss!" Her eyes sparkle.
Nike grins wide. "Then it shall be so. We need to get talking to your totem, then." She then folds her arms across her chest and steps forward. "We shall do great things, I believe."
"Full moon, to meet Vex?" KL asks. "It's Harbour Park, and that's not a safe place at the best of times." She nods fiercely. "Oh yes. Great things." Suddenly, she looks sad. "Nike, I screwed up a bit. There was this shadowlord and I was at the Farmhouse at the full moon which was stupid but we'd run out of milk again and I was bored and so I went because usually it's quite safe, and he said some things to me that I don't really recall and it seems like I ripped his face off a bit." This all comes in a very long rush.
"Felix." Nike says with a knowing nod. "Good for you. He's an ass."
"It's not good," KL says, with a shake of her head. "I mean, yes, he might very well be an ass. But I can't go around ripping the face of Garou left right and centre. It's just... not right. So, I am sorry about doing that, even though he's an ass. And glad I didn't kill him." She shakes her head. "Anyway, enough about him. I'm repairing the targets." A gesture. "And I've got some stuff to do fletching with. I thought I'd learn to make arrows."
"Making arrows is a good thing. Are you keeping up with your rituals? With the bow?" Nike leans against the house and looks about at KL's work. "The more you do the ritual and really get into it, the more you will calm in times like that. I have to do it... Otherwise I will rip everyone's face off." She pops off the wall and steps closer, "You see... Felix has a way of antagonizing people to make them really angry."
KL nods. "Why? What's he here for? I heard Lefty has been punished." She nods. "I have been doing it. It is good for me. And for the bow. Oh, which reminds me, Alesia is talking about making a bow. It'll be interesting to see how she gets on." A shrug. "Building things is hard. I had to build a whole door."
Nike gives a low chuckle. "Alesia is certainly full of herself, isn't she. It takes years to be able to make a good bow. I should know... You should have seen the attempts I have made. I get frustrated and break them."
This gets a long laugh in response. "I have a special pile of broken arrow shafts. When I was first learning to use a bow, I couldn't string it. I ended up throwing it over that wall there." She points out towards the bawn. "I did a good thing, too. When I was hurt, I asked Alesia to go into the city and give a message to one of the walker cubs, who I said I'd see. And at the same time I asked her to check the cub out for taint. She wasn't tainted, but one of the other cubs was." She smiles. "I do learn from my mistakes."
"One was tainted??" Nike shakes her head, "Shit. Not good. Tainted cub. Not good."
"Yeah, trust me, I do know," KL says, definitely. "I guess they got it sorted out, though. At least this one didn't get taken to the caern." She looks around. "Have you seen Alexander recently?"
Nike blinks a little as she thinks. "I have not. Not since the day it felt so odd around him. Anji said he was flirting with me but what do I know."
"He flirts with all of us," KL replies, looking a little grim. "I don't know. I sort of feel like I should...you know...at some point. Before I get killed gloriously." This is entirely matter-of-fact. "But... not sure I want to, with him. But if not him, who? And when?"
"I would rather you did with the Fury." Nike says and rests on a hay bale. "Tell me... Have you ever?"
KL shakes her head. "No. I guess I would have with Kovo, but he went away." She looks a bit forlorn. "I...was very confused, for a while. Still am. But I really liked Kovo. A lot. And it would have been nice to have had...you know...done the mother thing with him."
"And you cannot do this with Alexander?" Nike gives a slight smirk, "Would you like him as your mate? I would see it as a fine match. I know that you like men in that way, true?"
A very confused look from KL. "I think so. And then..." She purses her lips. "I don't want him. I don't like him enough. And I can't just use him and then discard him. Can I? And...uh...what happens to the result? I *really* can't cope with being an Ahroun and look after a baby."
Nike ponders this. "He is kin. The kin take care of children. I think Alexander took care of one of the Get kin and her child for a time. Yes? It is his job. We, as garou, have other work to do. You go in the small moons and do the mother thing." Nike looks to KL. "Do you wish a mate? I can talk to him about it."
"He has already made his willingness clear," KL says, dubiously. "I will think about it. I am not really sure." She grimaces. "How is Anji? Have you seen her recently?" She looks enthusiastic. "It's ages since I've seen her."
Nike smirks. "Good. Then we will have you pregnant soon with all luck." Nike gives a slight smirk, "Anji is just fine. At least the last time I saw her she was."
KL cocks her head. "Are you two....?" she lets it dangle, an eyebrow raised enquiringly, the corners of her mouth quirking into a grin.
Nike just gives a knowing smirk. "I need to run... But yes." She grins and disappears around the corner of the house.
